Funding Animal Genomics in Africa will not serve Africa in the first place. It will help more parties that sell equipments and lab needs. Africa needs first to build ilt capacities in training and education in animal breeding and genomics.

Africa has a rich reservoir of Animal genetic resources. They are threatened by a lack of breeding strategies and indiscriminate cross breeding activities. At th same time the number of students enrolled in Animal breeding degrees is small compared to real needs of Africa. It is not a matter of funding. It is a matter of vision.
